Claire's Sleep Study

When I took my three cough'ers into the pediatric pulmonologist, he recommended that Claire also do a sleep study.  She has a terrible time going to sleep unless completely exhausted (and sometimes even then) and wakes up a lot in the middle of the night and will be WIDE AWAKE for hours.

Mick took her last night and she did great!  She thought of the whole thing as one big funny adventure with Daddy.  He sent me this picture from his cell phone.

He said she especially thought the wires were funny.  :)

She got to sleep pretty well and only woke up a few times.  Mick said at 3:15 she sat up with a start while they were fixing her wires, but he quickly soothed her with "Daddy's here."  Since the baby was born, Mick is Claire's primary person at night most of the time so this wasn't a big change for her.

Mick said the tech told him she couldn't discuss the results and he said, "Ah, come on.....can you at least tell me if she thrashed around a lot?" and the tech said, "OH YEAH" and that it appeared her leg movement woke her up a few times.

It takes three days for the results and they're closed on Friday so we should hear something on Monday.  I told Mick that I'm glad we ended up doing it (I was a bit hesitant sending her off yesterday) because if there's something wrong and it's fixable, it could be a gift to her for life.  Oh and us too.  :)

I'll keep you posted on what we hear!

Me too!

I told Mick that, especially since it wasn't at all traumatic for her, I'm really glad we did this just for the reason you mentioned about Andrew. She could have a sleeping problem that would go undetected forever (my Dad had one done about 5 years ago) and if we find something out and can help her...this could make it easier for her for life. Not just us with bedtime! :) Make sense?
