Home Sweet Home - Iwakuni Style

They're quite SERIOUS about the Servicemembers and their families being Ambassadors.

Tomorrow we will have lived in our townhome for one week!  As you can see, it does not exude personality, but it is our HOME!

We are happy to be almost settled and look forward to getting some furniture.  We think we may get at least the Express Shipment and possibly the Regular Shipment this week.  For now we have some loaner furniture which includes beds/dressers/one couch/two chairs/two end tables/two lamps and dining room table/chairs.

We were offered the last townhome available on base and we think we know why it was still available.

This is right out our front door and to the left.
The girls are standing in the back of the side yard.
This is our back yard.  Across the street, to the right of the big bush behind the fence, is the edge of the golf course.  To the left of the big bush is the flight line.  Did you know jets kind of sound like a motorcycle going up a highway ramp?
But it does have a deep garden tub for Gigi! ☺
All kidding aside, we are really happy to be here and living the Mayberry life!  You can dial "113" on your base phone and the operator will pick up and you ask for whomever or whatever on base and she'll tell you the extension and then connect you.

There are more parks than you shake a stick at and the equipment is abundant and super fun!

This is just one of the structures in the park about a block from us.
Here's the other structure in that same park.  There are two more parks within a block or two each way.
Audrey is still the super swinger
and extreme daredevil!
My current favorite story took place on this excursion to the park.  Here's how it went.

Olivia:  "Claire! Do you want to play store?"

Claire: "☺ I want to be the ma'am! ☺"

Mick works about a half mile from the house and the big girls will go to school about 6/10 of a mile from our house.

Since we had offered to live out in town until a better location came available and the Commanding Officer said to Mick, "Yeah....I could see needing to talk to you in the middle of the night....might be best if you lived on base," the government will move us when that better location becomes available in about 6-8 months.

But for now, we're still really happy and tooling around the base, and on the weekends out in town, in our groovy minivan!

Home Sweet Home!
