Torii Beach Sea Glass

When we were in Okinawa, we stayed at the small Army base of Torii Station in adorable log cabins. Torii Beach is known for its sea glass. You couldn't walk 3 steps without finding some. I hear you can find sea glass anywhere, but it is more plentiful in certain places...and this beach is one of those certain places!

Here are a few pictures of our huge amount of loot.

In the foreground are our favorite shells. Back left is a huge pile of brown glass (like old beer bottles). The second least rare is the clear. The rarest we found was the green. The pottery (to the right of the shells) were my favorite pieces to find but the green was special too as well as when you got a piece of brown or white which had writing on it.  We have a few with Kanji letters on it as well as the International phenomenon of Coca-Cola. :)
Another view. We would like to do something fun with the sea glass. The top idea in the running right now is to have a table made and make a table top out of the glass.

We brought out sea glass home in segregated plastic bags in our carry-ons. It was HEAVY! It was sosososoossosososo fun and peaceful walking along the beach, looking for sea glass and then coming back and sorting our booty. I went by myself a few times, with Mick a few times, with just the big girls a few times and the whole family a few times. LOVED IT!
