A BLT at Sako's

When you tell someone who has ever lived in Iwakuni that you are moving here the first they'll say is, "You have to get a BLT at Sako's."

It's a hole in the wall place on the corner of "4 corners" about a quarter mile out of the main gate.

It's only open for lunch Monday through Friday.  The big girls didn't have school today so we decided to give it a try!

BLT  550 yen...or about $6.80
The service wasn't what you would call fast.  Or overly friendly really.  But we amused ourselves with the napkins.  And taking pictures.

We decided that our origami-esque napkins looked like a Longhorn so instead of the Peace sign that the Japanese pose with....we did a Hook 'em Horns!
You might be able to guess whose idea that was!
There was a few more things on the menu besides the BLT.  Some few basic sandwiches and some rice.  French fries and onion rings.  It actually reminded me of Coney Island in Grand Island!
There were only 3 tables and five bar stools at the counter.
And were the BLT's good?
YES!  ☺  The bread is grilled, the bacon perfectly done and thick slices of tomato and crisp lettuce!
But my favorite were the onion rings!
Three rings of onions for every ring, just slightly breaded...they almost tasted grilled.  Delicious!
It wasn't exactly a bargain lunch at 3,750 yen (about $46), but you absolutely have to "get a BLT at Sako's" if you live in Iwakuni!

I love a BLT and I love anything reminiscent of Coney Island, so this place sounds pretty awesome!!
