Audrey's 6th Grade Clap-Out at MCPerry

One of the very best parts about moving to Japan was that Audrey got to have an extra year of elementary school rather than middle school. She had a longer recess in 6th grade than any other grade leading up to it. FUN!

Fishhawk Creek Elementary, in Florida, had a fantastic tradition where they did a "Clap-Out" on the last day of school for the 5th graders. It's so easy to implement, especially when you have a fantastic Assistant Principal like Deborah Eittreim who runs with your idea and gives you all the credit! :)

I had this sign made on VistaPrint.com and it will be used from now on. Mrs. Eittreim said that we're going to have the best tradition in the Pacific School System!!!!
We did it a little different and more drawn-out than Fishhawk's.  School started at 8:50 and the majority of the school and parents who were in the know assembled at 9:30 for the clap-out. We had all of the kids who were PCS'ing (Permanent Change of Station, i.e. moving) as well as the 6th graders come down and start getting clapped for at 9:40. It was raining, so instead of a tunnel on the playground, they just paraded around the school under the awning.

There's my girl!
Here's a more accurate portrayal of her. :)
Here's our sweet friend Macy who moved this last weekend to Texas! Miss you!!!
After the official "clap-out" we had a cookie party! We asked the 5th graders to host it, with the idea that they'll be treated next year. All the parents except for the 6th graders were asked to bring in a batch of treats.
Regretably, Haille's Mom (Haille on the left, Lebet on the right) is a 5th grade teacher so rather than basking in the glow of her 6th grade being honored she was organizing kids. Sorry Keri!!!!!!
The 5th graders did a great job and are ready to be honored next year! :)
We have made some awesome friends since we have been here and really love the school!
Susan Keith, on the left, has left us (husband Davin retired later that day and they moved to Arizona) and Chantelle, Macy's Mom, to my immediate right (husband also retiring, just moved to Texas) and Mrs. ("OH MY LORD! CALL ME JENNIFER, ALREADY!") Walker, Audrey's teacher is also a Marine Corps wife. :)
The 6th gradres got first pick and got to have as many treats as they wanted, but then the rest of the kids came in and got a drink (donated by the PTO) and one cookie. We L-O-V-E-D Olivia's fabulous teacher Mrs. Wilson soooooooooo much!!!!!
Audrey absolutely loved Mrs. Walker (I'm sorry! I can't do it! I can't call you by your first name!) and told me that some 7th graders that she talked with said that what they miss most about 6th grade is Mrs. Walker! We were so lucky!

Audrey had a great year and we're very proud of her!
Now off to HIGH School!
It's 7th - 12th here! WOW!
