SeaBee Ball

This weekend we were so lucky to have the opportunity to attend the Navy SeaBee Ball! It was less a ball and more of a party and soooooooooooooo much fun!

Seabees are sailors who are part of the Construction Batallion (Engineers). C.B....SeaBee...get it? :)

Last year they had a regular ball and the head of the SeaBees here in Iwakuni, Jason Zeda and his fabulous wife Sheila decided that we have so many balls in the military...let's have a theme party instead! So they created this fabulous theme of "SeaBees Through the Decades" and costumes were encouraged and uniforms were optional. :)
They had a poster decaded to SeaBees from each decade. They began in 1941. We, of course, are posing by the 50's!
It was Mick's idea to go as the 50's and I was soooooooooooo excited because I had always wanted to wear a poodle skirt! Thank you Mick!!!!! Continuing to make my dreams come true!!!!!
My fabulous friend Mary did my and my friend Megan's hair. Megan went as a 60's Austin Powers girl. Pictures forthcoming!

THANK YOU MARY!!!!!!!!!!
Then I went home and my boyfriend Buddy Holly was ready to go.
Pretend we're posing in front of a '57 Chevy!
We walked into the Ball and 50's music was playing and we began the dance-a-thon!
The next morning I could barely walk down the stairs because my feet hurt so bad!
LOVED dancing with a petticoat! Why do we not have those anymore????????

So many people dressed up so fabulously that I became the unofficial couples' photographer
and posed everybody by the SeaBee!

This is Megan and her Austin Powers husband Mike! (Don't they look FABULOUS?!?!?! YEAH BABY!!!!!!)
These are our FABULOUS AND FUN hosts, Jason and Sheila Zeda! The funny part is that they said they ordered the wigs with the intention that Jason was going to wear the one Sheila has on and vice-versa, but when they came in, they thought they worked much better this way! Hooray for the 70's!!!!!

And the fabulous 80's Frees, Jack and Michelle, who beat us in the dance contest! :)

This was my personal favorite costume pair! Don and Betty Draper.
They even corrupted the SeaBee with their Lucky Strikes cigarettes!

The dapper Sergeant Major Calvin who is at ease and fabulous in any decade!

And more 70's work by Bill and Alma! They cut up the dance floor too!!!!!

They were so fabulous, I needed two pictures of them! :)
I had to have one with Megan!!!!! Somebody said that Megan was me when I went to college!
Didn't I get even prettier and more stylish???? :)

Then we posed by the cake WHICH WAS NOT CAKE, but just a prop...which may or may not have fooled a few people (Megan!)! :)
But it was worth it for the picture, don't you think? :)
So let's just answer for the 100th time that NO I did not make my costume, but found it online at (Be sure to click here) the HipHop 50's Shop who I could never recommend highly enough! Cheney and the gang were so friendly and helped me pick out what color skirt I wanted and then answered endless questions (black or red petticoat? Answer: Black...Red glasses or black...as you can see...red!) and then even sent me a thank you card when it was over. When seriously.....I should send them one because I had SO.MUCH FUN and I would attribute it 90% to the costume, but still need to give credit to my handsome Buddy Holly husband!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Who, by the way, won the chipping contest!

Action pics!

So, thank you Jason and Sheila for a fabulous party!
You are the hosts with the mosts!!!!!!!!!
We walked downstairs to the Officers' Club and Gary, the Family Readiness Officer by day, DJ by Friday night, saw Mick and greeted him with Tequila!
And then we danced and danced and danced some more, but it was time to put the camera down! (Because we may or may not have gone on to crash a party at our friends the Kerrs!)

IT WAS A RATHER LARGE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!

You look adorable in your 50s outfit. Looks like a super FUN TIME. Thank goodness Mick had an opportunity to do Tequila.
